WHY EDUCATION COST INCREASES SO MUCH ??

Quote of SUCCESS

Search term:
expensive education
high education cost
education cost inflation
college cost out of control

Expensive education cost is not merely a problem in Malaysia, all nations around the world basically facing the same situation. In the past three decades, college tuition has consistently increased much faster than both inflation and incomes.

Why do college costs “inflate” so much faster than other expenses?

Facilities and equipment
Higher education institutions need to follow the trend, upgrading their equipment and teaching material regularly. We can see that large portions of a school’s budget are more sensitive to inflation that the typical household. For example, colleges need to replace technology more often than the typical family. Also, teachers have been historically underpaid, and are finally getting some of the raises they deserve.

Scholarships
If your student is not one of the lucky few that receives a scholarship, then they become one of the unlucky few who helps pay for what others receive. This is especially true with private colleges and universities that receive little or no funding from the government.
This becomes a perpetual problem that seems to feed on itself. As college costs rise, more students need scholarships. As larger scholarships are given, it continues to raise the price of higher education for the remaining students. This leaves more students needing scholarships to meet the skyrocketing costs, and so on.

Demand
The main reason of skyrocketing higher education cost is due to the demand. Credential society makes certification too much important. For wealthy families, parents willing to pay expensive fees in order to send their children to branded universities. Even though extremely expensive, they still were willing to invest since they know it bring better prospect to their children. Therefore, for branded colleges administrators have no reason to lower the fees because many people willing to pay high, many of them even increase the fees since people still pay for it.
How about moderate and low quality colleges? Will they lower the price to compete for customers (students)? No, because people will still pay for it, although it is more expensive. This phenomenon greatly increase the financial burden of students, many owe high debt to complete the study.

Education becomes less beneficial to students. In some countries like Taiwan and Japan, you can see almost everyone is degree graduate, but real income do almost no improve. Tertiary education cost is high, but it is irrational to giving up the study. No one can deny that higher education individuals earn much higher. Without recognition of certificate is detrimental to your future career, it is the main reason of poverty. When I search the web, I notice that in Malaysia, people from board of directors and senior management mostly were graduated from foreign universities. You can try to search the information of big companies, and then you will know why rich people send their children study overseas.

This is perhaps an opportune time for students to take up dentistry. One of Malaysia’s leading
healthcare player, BP Healthcare Group, will invest RM100 million over the next three years to set up the biggest dental care network in the country. The first dental clinic will open in the second week of September at the BP Specialist Centre in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, to be followed by another three more at its specialist centres in Cheras, Klang and Ipoh in November. Within the next 3 years, there will be 50 dental care clinics throughout the country.
In line with this, licensing will be strictly enforced among dentistry graduates. The country has about 10,000 dentists and the number is growing. By and large, many Malaysians visit the dentist only as a last resort when there is pain. The government wants to change that and encourage Malaysians to enjoy excellent oral hygiene by going for regular and affordable checks before it is too late.

Do you love food? Do you know how to cook? Are you particular with ingredients and how it affects the body?
Food Science is a field of study that looks at the physical, biological, chemical and technical aspects of food, from harvesting or slaughtering to cooking and the eating. Activities of food scientists include the development of new food products, design of processes to produce these foods, choice of packaging materials, shelf-life studies, and sensory evaluation of the product with trained expert panels or potential consumers, as well as microbiological and chemical testing.
On a practical level, food scientists help to improve the quality of life of humans by searching for new and better ways of selecting, preserving, processing, packaging, distributing food products and discovering new possibilities of food sources.
FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CAREERS IN MALAYSIA
Malaysia’s food industry is as diverse as the multi-cultures of Malaysia, with a wide range of processed food with Asian tastes. The food processing industry is predominantly Malaysian-owned. It is estimated that the present global retail sales in food products are worth around US$3.5 trillion, and are expected to grow at an annual rate of 4.8 per cent to US$6.4 trillion by 2020. Malaysia remains a net importer of food in 2011 (RM34.5 billion).
In 2011, Malaysia exported food products worth RM20.6 billion to more than 200 countries, of which, processed food contributed about RM13.5 billion. The main exports were cocoa and cocoa preparations (RM3.8 billion), prepared cereals and flour preparations (RM1.6 billion) and margarine and shortening (RM1.3 billion). Major export destinations were Singapore, the USA, Indonesia and Republic of China. According to the 2013 Budget, The government will also allocate RM75 million to increase the output of food and health products.
Increasing consumer awareness in nutrition value and food fortification for healthcare has created the demand for functional/healthy minimally processed fresh food, organic food and natural food flavours from plants and seafood. Therefore, more specialists in this field will be required.

AGRICULTURE PERSONAL COURSE REVIEW

Quote of SUCCESS

Are you born with an inquisitive mind? Do you like studying about plants and animals? Then perhaps you might be a future Agriculturist. Agricultural Science focuses on the science and technology behind principles and practices of agriculture. Through this course, you will be able to develop the knowledge, skills and practices that deal with the maintenance of agricultural resources and how to use these resources properly. Moreover, this course will touch on topics such as soils, the structure of plants and crops.
Malaysia is blessed with natural advantages. Given this, the agricultural sector’s contribution to Gross National Income is expanding the production of high-value diversified items such as swiftlet nests, herbs, seaweed, palm oil, rubber and large-scale rice paddy farming. No longer considered the “poor man’s sector”, agriculture is slowly changing through the help of research and development.
At present the Universiti Putra Malaysia has been tasked to restructure existing syllabuses to ensure sufficient emphasis on core fields such as animal nutrition, animal husbandry, animal breeding, agronomy and agriculture ICT.
AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE CAREERS IN MALAYSIA
Most agricultural scientists work in research universities, private industry or the government. They work in offices, laboratories and in the field. At present agriculture employs about 16% of the Malaysian population but that is expected to gradually increase in the coming years.
According to the Economic Transformation Programme, it is estimated that 4,000 aquaculturists, 2,000 animal nutritionists, 500 agronomists, 200 pathologists, 200 entomologists, 200 soil scientists, 100 veterinarians and 50 plant physiologists will be required in 2020.
Under the 10th Malaysia Plan, the agricultural sector is expected to grow with an annual rate of 3.3% and achieve a 6.6% share in Malaysia’s GDP by the year 2015. This means, more qualified individuals especially those in agriculture biotechnology and agriculture logistics will be needed for this sector.
Despite present opportunities, the industry will have to address some certain challenges such as the predominance of small-scale and ageing farmer community, lack of compliance awareness and focus on low-value products. This is where agricultural scientists could step in by helping the industry to develop large-scale agribusinesses that are market-driven to produce value-add products.

LAW PERSONAL COURSE REVIEW

Quote of SUCCESS
>>> KEY TOWARDS SUCCESS IS JUST EFFORT, CREATIVE,PREPARATION AND                        APPRECIATION OF EVERY POSSIBLE CHANCES !!!!

Are you interested in legal issues? Or are you comfortable dissecting an issue into its basic components and then  analysing it on each level? That could be an indication that a career in law is suitable for you.
“The rule of law is better than the rule of any individual,” said the Greek philosopher Aristotle in 350BC. The law is above everyone and it applies to everyone. If knowledge is power, then sure knowledge of the law can take you very far.
The study of Law is immensely rewarding. Apart from merely fulfilling the prerequisites of pursuing a career in law, it is a field of study that truly opens your mind and trains you to think analytically. A law degree will enable you to practice law in Malaysia and in any Commonwealth jurisdiction. It covers the basic elements of the law that all lawyers should know.
QUALIFYING AS A LAWYER
A bachelor of laws (LL.B) takes three years to complete. After three years, you will either need to take the:
  • Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) or
  • Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC, previously the Bar Vocational Course)
These professional qualifications are necessary only if you are interested in practicing law.
BPTC is the second stage of training to becoming a lawyer. This is taken over one year full time. BPTC aims to give students the skills required for a career at the Bar. It is primarily a practical course including plenty of advocay and role-playing, as well as exercises in drafting legal documents and writing opinions. Assessment takes several forms and vary between institutions.
CLP is a compulsory requirement for Bachelor of Law graduates conferred by universities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and certain universities in Australia and New Zealand before they can practice law. The Legal Profession Qualifying Board of Malaysia has listed down the universities, click here. Graduates of these universities/institutions can apply and sit and pass the CLP examination.
Once you have this qualification, you will have to do nine months as a pupil in chambers at a law firm. Being a pupil in chambers is something like a housemanship for doctors. This is where you will learn what it’s really like to work in a law firm. Once your pupillage is over, you will be ’called to the Bar’, which means you will be qualified as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. In order to practice law in Malaysia, you will have to be registered with the Bar Council of Malaysia.

LAW CAREERS IN MALAYSIA
The career options for a law degree holder are as diverse as they are interesting. You can be an advocate and solicitor and represent your clients in court. Every year, 39,000 Malaysians are arrested by police and these people would usually require the services of a lawyer. You could also join a company in their legal department. Most companies both large and small will have legal departments that advise and liaise with the external legal advisors as well.
Estimates from the Malaysian Bar show that there are over 14,700 lawyers and over 6,300 law firms in the country.  Earlier this year, parliament passed amendments to the Legal Profession Act to allow the entry of licensed foreign lawyers to practise in Malaysia. Therefore, the competition will no longer just be on overseas shores, but right on Malaysia’s back yard.

The salary of lawyers is high; no matter what it is still a professional occupation. The starting salary in varies and depend on your specialization. Most lawyers don’t make all that much money, given the cost and time required to become one. Salary of lawyers are difficult to be determined, because they have own organization to recruit employee (same as actuarist and doctors). However, you can try to search for online salary survey report for reference. Besides, when choosing this course, please ensure the recognition of professional body, or it will be a hindrance to become a legal lawyer.

COMPUTER SCIENCE PERSONAL COURSE REVIEW

Quote of SUCCESS
>>> KEY TOWARDS SUCCESS IS JUST EFFORT, CREATIVE,PREPARATION AND                        APPRECIATION OF EVERY POSSIBLE CHANCES !!!!

This course will give you a broad understanding of the computer world including an understanding of programming properties for software such as games and web-browsers, creating new programmes or improving existing ones.
For instance there are computer science graduates currently working on technology to improve fire-fighting techniques, making better prosthetic devices for people with disabilities, making textbook graphics readable to the blind, working on connecting rural communities through technology and so much more, including eliminating hunger and preventing climate change. Also, who would have thought twitting from space would be possible?
In general, computer science courses are categorized into three different major:
  • Software Engineering - In software engineering you will explore the ways in which computing is used throughout modern society, explore software design and programming and build complex software systems. What you can create is only limited by your imagination and innovativeness. A degree in Software Engineering will give you the skills needed to solve commercial, scientific and technical computing problems and the means to develop usable software applicable in any field the likes of which include artificial intelligence, computer games, robotics, medicine, environment and even the film industry.
  • Computer Networking - Computer networking specialises in building, maintaining and managing networks that deliver information. In other words, this mainly revolves around computer networks, network analysis and network design. Businesses, whether it be governments, institutions, organisations or individuals, are continuously in need of graduates in this field due to the ever increasing reliance on data stored and supplied by digital technologies.
  • Web Media Technology - In the Web Media Technology course, you will study the concepts and principles of multimedia technology for application in websites. You will learn how to create 2D & 3D models, digital music, video and other technologies for web-related companies and businesses. Courses in Malaysia are primarily focused on design, development and deployment of interactive multimedia over the web. Graduates can join the industry as webmasters, web developers and web programmers.

The salary of computer expertise is attractive, regardless which of the three field you involved. According to the survey, their incomes are higher than the average among the salary range of professionals. However, it has to depend on the company or field you they work for. For instances, IT employees in a accounting company are definitely lower than those under a information technology company.
