Write an essay end with “ I glad to have met with Derek”

We met by chance when we got stuck in the same lift at the KLCC feeling for the worst, I thought I was going to die as nobody could hear us and there was total darkness in the lift

But Lucia, a 25 years lady who stood by my side gave me a sympathetic ear and assured me that help was on its way. She taught me to be strong and true to her words, the lift was opened and we were safe again. That brief episode sealed our relationship and we became companions forever.

As an older person, she took great care to dress elegantly and spoke in impeccable English language. Instantly, she became like an older sibling guiding me to avoid the potholes of life. She always stressed that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Whenever I felt down and out, Lucia would come to the rescue and in a jiffy. I would have rejuvenated and rebounded Lucia too was a great philosopher although she was an under graduate pursuing medicine in the University of Malaya.

She cajoled me in striving for the best talking me away from the likely danger of teenagerhood, Lucia began emphasizing the need to become a professional. Her wise counsel worked wonders in my somehow  complacent life. She was the guiding star who taught me the ropes to excel for whatever I did.

Her great influence turned me from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. Her way impressed the world for Lucia grew up in an aristocratic family who always had the best in life. Her maternal aunt was the champion to the Queen of England and this maternal instinct made Lucia treat me like her own child. Whenever the storms and hard knocks of life hit me hard, Lucia came to my rescue.

When I sat for my examinations she gave me moral support to excel. I won numerous coveted prizes in life due to the great contribution of Lucia.

Today, I had become a professional in medicine and I am glad to have met Lucia. I thank my lucky star for being given a great upliftment in life in a lift.

Ways of improving one’s English essay example

Suitable Title:
method to improve English

how to improve English
method to learn a new language effectively
how to learn a English effectively
how to learn a new language rapidly

Quote for SUCCESS >>>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

There are few ways you can improve your English. It is good that you have realized the importance of English and are willing to work hard to improve it.

The first method is by reading more English books, newspapers and magazines. In fact, this is the best method. Buy a good dictionary. Do not waste your money buying one of those tiny dictionaries. They are quite useless as they do not contain enough words and explanations given in them are too brief. Spend more on a better dictionary which you can use for life. Whenever you come across a word which you do not understand, look it up in the dictionary. Very often, you will feel lazy to check the meaning of a certain word and try to guess it meaning from the context. I strong advise you do not do it! Do pick it up the dictionary and check the meaning of the word. Also make an effort to learn the pronunciation symbols so that you can check the pronunciation of every word before you check its meaning. The pronunciation of most people who speak English is quite atrocious. The more you read and the more you check the dictionary, the more English will improve. There is no short-cut to in mastering the English language. It is a very long and tedious journey. It may take you more than a whole life to master it.

Next, get a good grammar book. I would recommend only those written by native users of the language such as the British or American s. study the book well and learn about the complexities of the language and the many errors commonly made by people who are learning the language. In this way you will make fewer errors when you speak or write the language.

Besides this, you can get someone who is good at the language to teach you. With the very low standard of English nowadays, it is very difficult to find a good English tutor. Private tuition can be very expensive but you must be prepared to pay If you are really keen on improving your English.
Apart from all of this, you can watch more English programmes on television. This is a very pleasant way of learning English because you are entertained at the same time. You will learned how words are pronounced and the situations in which they are used.

Lastly, use English whenever you have opportunity to do so. Speak to those whose English is good and you will learn from them and also lose your fear of communicating orally in English with others.

If all the above methods are used, I am sure your English will improve by leaps and bounds in next to no time.

Advantage and disadvantage allowing mobile phones to be brought to school

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

In more recent times, the same anxiety greeted the advent of computers, especially the internet. Today, the internet has become an essential tool and we cannot imagine a life without it. Like the computer, the mobile phone has many advantages, while an abuse of it can have disastrous results. Mobile phones are useful tools of communication. Parents and children can keep in touch with each other and any last minute change of plans can be conveyed easily without any trouble either party. Some children however, cite this as loss of privacy as parents will have 24 hours access to their children.
Parents say mobile phone is more than a convenience – it is an essential item that can function as a tracker device. With it they can monitor their children and check o their whereabouts via satellite. Thus, wherever they are, parent can ensure the safety of their children and avoid incidents like kidnapping, rape and other such crimes.

Education Ministry officials, school authorities and many parents believe that allowing mobile phones in schools would only widen the disparity between the haves and the have-nots among students. Mobile phone come in variety of shapes, colours and functions: from generic ones to highly sophisticated smartphones. Not every child in school comes from middle or upper class families that can afford to buy each child mobile phones. The self-esteem of children who do not own a mobile phone or who possess a basic one will be affected.

Low self-esteem among students would causes rift among children. Cliques, jealousy and rivalry would result. This unhealthy situation should not be nurtured in a school. Instead, the school environment should promote equal opportunities and equal treatment.

Another reason for the strong outcry against students to bring mobile phones to school is the distraction is poses. SMS text, games and ringing tones are some of the distractors that take the students’ attention away from the lesson. Children, being children, will not a able to resist the temptation of answering calls and sending messages when they should be listening to the teacher or completing their written work. Even if the school authorities ban the use of mobile phones during classes, the games available on the phone is something the students would resort to classes to overcome boredom.

Apart from diverting students’ attention, the mobile phone can be threaten the validity of school examinations. Students may cheat during examination via text message. Information or answers can be passed from one student to the next while examiners may be totally oblivious of the heating that happens.

Finally, even adults find it hard to exercise social etiquette in the use of mobile phones, therefore children cannot be expected to do any better. Despite explicit message in movie theaters, at meetings and at formal meetings, we still hear phones ringing away. School administrator and discipline teachers would find it difficult to effectively prohibit students from using their phones during lessons.
If the Ministry of Education lifts ban on mobile phones, schools may come up with new rules or guidelines to control the use of the mobile phone. Inevitably, teachers will be burdened with the task of monitoring ile phone use and misuse of the mobile phone. All this is additional stress for teachers who are already loaded with heavy responsibility.

In short, undeniable mobile phones bring lot of conveniences. However, allowing young students to bring mobile phones is still unnecessary. For them, mobile phones are just mainly entertainment and showing-off tools. Perhaps authorities can make a slight change on the rule, for example merely allowing students of secondary schools to bring mobile phones, instead of including the primary schools students.

MOTIVATION IS NECESSARY FOR STUDENTS TODAY ENGLISH ESSAY EXAMPLE

Suitable Title:
THE IMPORTANCE OF MOTIVATION
EFFECT OF MOTIVATION ON STUDENTS
IMPROVE CONFIDENT ON STUDENTS
WHY STUDENTS NEED MOTIVATION

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

It cannot be denied that a positive mind can create wonders in life. ”Between the impossible and the possible is a measure of a man’s mind.” Therefore, philosophers. psychologists, consultants and professionals agree that a certain level of motivation is indeed necessary for willpower to achieve the best due to the peer pressure, environmental problems where they live and other factors which embrace neglect, negative thinking, diffident, and phobia.

Students have the misconception that they are incapable of passing with flying colours because they have failed in the class test or monthly examinations. Students do not realize their potential, in born talent and capability due to the lack of exposure and guidance. Therefore, these students need motivation to do their best level in life. Thomas Alva Edison failed many times in inventing light bulb but he motivated himself and never rested on his laurels until he succeeded.

When Viking Oven company founder went around getting manufacturers build his oven nobodies give him a second thought. All manufacturers did not believe that such a oven can be made and sold. The pioneer decided to manufacture on his own by pulling all the resources within a year, all bakeries and confectioneries were ordering the Viking ovenettes which proved to be for superior to its contemporary brands.

No one Is born with inadequacy. Everyone is born equal and students need to made aware that they can achieve anything when they put in their heart and soul to it. It cannot be denied that motivated students well discover their inclinations and go to great height in life.

Good motivation allows students to accept a failure as a stepping stone to success. Quest and enthusiasm are created due to motivation. Highly motivated individuals like Abraham Lincoln, Alexander Graham Bell. Dr David Living Stone, Bill Gates and Mahatma Gandhi did not mince their words and prove the superiority to the world.

No one can deny that motivation can create students with vitality and vigor that they never knew before. Motivation creates heroes out of cowards and makes mediocre students to become outstanding performers in life.

Motivated students will not be weak-mind. However, they will have nerves of steel and great will power to overcome all the obstacles in life. Students need proper motivation in order to survive in this world which is full of trial, tribulations and negativity. A little motivation will go a long way in making individuals to be great leaders.

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

Disasters occur due to the danger caused by global warming. Deforestation, the use of chlorofluorocarbon, open burning, industrial and vehicle emissions as well as forest fires have affected the ozone layer which has allowed more ultraviolet rays to penetrate into the world.

This has resulted in global warming in all parts of the world. The ice polar are melting at a fast pace and this caused the sea and ocean levels to rise. In addition, lower regions are being flooded and crops are being destroyed. This has reduced yields causing food shortage.

Global warming has reduced heavy rain to a trickle. As a result, there is parched soil and desertification is common. More and more agricultural plots are becoming barren land, Animals and migratory birds face imminent extinction due t warmer region becoming hotter.

Global warming has caused rivers, lakes, dams, canals, and streams to dry up completely. This has resulted in economic and social turmoil. Countries are facing the wrath of mother nature due to the lackadaisical attitude towards global warming.

Seas and oceans are becoming warmer and marine life cannot spawn in such high temperature. The fishing industry is facing a shortage in marine life and the nation are concerned about the dwindling marine life. If this situation remains in long run, humanity definitely will face a great shortage of food supplies.

Canadians are using are-conditioners during summer now when it is not necessary before. Global warming has caused an increase in skin cancer, cataract and heat strokes. Many die from heat exhaustion and this is a disturbing factor.

The usage of machinery and industrialization emits a constant toxic cocktail of harmful gases which has caused global warming too. Huge tracts of land have been cleared and there is no shade from sunlight. The rainforest is being depleted at a fast pace due to the opening of new infrastructures, townships, recreational parks and industrial zones. Coupled with overzealous logging, the situation is out of hand.

Therefore, mankind must make amends that the environment remains a sanctuary for all. It is pertinent for nations of the world to co-operate and make changes in order to curd global warming. A concerted effort needs to be carried out promptly to prevent further destruction to the universe.

THE BAD EFFECT OF DRUGS ENGLISH ESSAY EXAMPLE

Suitable Title:
The Evil of Taking Drug
Drug addiction
Harm of drug addiction
Stop the drugs

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

It is sad but true that number of drug addicts is increasing year by year despite all the measures taken by the government. Trying to cure at rehabilitation centers and the mandatory death sentence for drug traffickers seem not have much effect on the worsening situation. With drug taking on the rise, the country loses out in many ways.

The first evil of taking drugs has to do with money. A drug addict spends all almost all his money on drugs. The craving for drugs is so strong that is overrides all other needs. Hence, a drug addict will willingly spend money on drugs, instead of proper food, clothing or shelter. Without proper food, his health suffers. Without proper clothes, his private and professional image is downgraded. If he does ot spend money improving or just maintaining his home, it will eventually become a shambles. Heaven forbid that a drug addict would have family. His neglect of his family and his inability to supply them regularly would be like putting them through living hell.

Another evil of taking drugs is that it will spoil the educational or professional career the addict. If the addict is still a students, his educational career is good as if it has come to a halt. The student drug addict will lose all his interest in his studies while he seeks his drug-created heaven every opportunity he gets. If the drug addict is already working, his performance at his job will almost certainly suffer. The addicted worker’s mind will be in constant drug-induced haze. He will not be able to make good decisions and neither will he be able to follow instructions correctly.

The other evil of drug –taking is that the drug addict may turn to crime to support his expensive habit. Drugs are not cheap and addict will usually has to turn to crime. He steals or robs. A female addict may turn to prostitution. Thus, a major reason for the skyrocketing crime rate is the increase in the number of drug addicts.

Taking drugs also spoil the addict’s health and shortens his life. Drug addicts usually do not care much about food. Or, they might have spend so much of their money on drugs that they have little left for food. So, they are undernourished. Another way drug addicts spoil they health is that they usually share hypodermic needles. That is why Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) spread like wildfire among drug users.

In short, drug is really a great damage towards individuals as well as society. This evil brings nothing but destruction. Lastly, I hope those who are presently involved in drug-taking will stop doing immediately. To those who are thinking of starting, my equivocal advice is “Don’t”.

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

Education is a never-ending learning process that has always been a part of our life. As education is a building block in our lives, we are willing to invest deeply into our education. Good education will bring us far with that they have to offer our very own future. Recently, there are numbers of students continue their studying aboard. As the saying goes, the grass always looks greener on the other side of fence. Many consider study aboard is a better option. Nonetheless, study abroad and local have their own uniqueness. They similar in term of nature of competitiveness however differ in fees, experiences as well as the influences on character.

First of all, major goal of studying is to learn knowledge and same time forge better characters. Currently in this modern-day and society, every nations focus on the education sector. Both local and overseas education institutions keep improving to produce competitive students in future jobs markets, for example upgrading of facilities, hiring of qualified lecturers and design better teaching methods. In Malaysia, there are various school that meet specific demands of students, like universities, colleges, polytechnic, government, private and parochial school. Hence, students are able to choose their desire school and unnecessary to study aboard since there are different types of educational institution exist in local. Modern education concentrate on soft skills, therefore study aboard or local, students can learn to speak in front public, work in group, communicate better and so forth.

In comparison, the most obvious different of study local and aboard is the cost required. This is an undeniable fact that study aboard require additional cost with the same education one will get. Different countries have different currency rate. Usually, when we convert our currency to other’s currency, our value will become smaller. If local students study in seasonal countries such as United Kingdom and Germany, they need to buy winter clothing due to the different climate. In addition, students cannot avoid the high transportation expenditures if study aboard. As the further the country from our country, the higher the price of the flight ticket is. The prices of flight will even higher if students buy on peak season or in zero hour in case of emergency. Study locally generally government will subsidy part of the tuition fees, hence the expenses in slower. When students study aboard, they will become foreigner and so there are no subsidies on tuition fee. Mostly extra charge will even apply on foreigners. As a result, higher expenditure is needed.

Normally students feel more comfortable in their own motherland, as they already get use the local environment, culture as well as native language. Hence, in local students are ableto focus better on their studies since various problems like communication problems and cultural different have been excluded. However, study aboard students need to get use a whole new environment. The feeling of being alone and away from home badly affects their concentration on studies. Some of them even give up their studies because fail to get use themselves in oversea. However the experience of living in oversea is precious which cannot obtain in local. Going aboard to further studies will benefit students by gaining new knowledge about other country. Consequently, students can perfectly master a new language and indirect more confident when communicate with foreigners. On the other hand, studying abroad give one major benefits to broaden the world understanding and perspective on international affairs. One will know how another culture approaches daily life unusual challenges.

Last different of study aboard and local is in term of forging characters. Based on a research done by International Education for Students (IES), it was shown that a majority of the students who studied abroad realized that it is a catalyst to increase one’s maturity and self-independence.   By studying overseas, students will be living away from family and friends. Thus, students will learn to live without depending on anyone else. Moreover, students will face problems on their own. For example, they need to adapt with the new environment of a new country as soon as possible. As a result, students will be tougher in overcoming any challenges in their life. In brief, study aboard encourage students to stand on their own two feet. Eventually, one will develop a greater self-confidence, independence, and self-reliance. On the other hand, students who study in local with familiar environment are very difficult to form stronger personality in short period of time. Challenges and obstacles they faced are minute if compare with students in overseas. At last, their personality improvement will remain with almost no differences.

In short, both studies aboard and studies local have similarities and differences. It falls upon students to compare similarities and differences before deciding where to go. However if financial condition is allowed, study aboard will be a better option since it provides students with global perspectives, and thus better prepares for leading in global independent society. Even though higher cost is required, but it is an investment comes with a long term benefit or return in the long run.

WHAT ARE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF HAVING BOTH PARENTS WORKING ENGLISH ESSAY EXAMPLE

Suitable Title:
ADVANTAGE OF BOTH PARENTS WORKING
DISADVANTAGE OF BOTH PARENTS WORKING
EFFECT ON CHILDREN OF WORKING PARENTS
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHILDREN AND PARENTS

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

There are several advantages and disadvantages to having both parents in the workforce. The obvious advantage would be that the household income would double if both parents work. My father often tells me that children we children are very fortunate. During his school days, he did not have the luxury of owning expensive toys. They were no such luxuries like engaging with a private tutor to help them in their school work. With both my parents working, they can afford to give us the very best. They can buy us more assessment books, employ a private tutor to help us revise our schoolwork as well as send us for music lesson. We can even afford to upgrade our housing from a flat to a private condominium and go for vacations in exotic places.

Working parents tend to be loser to each other as they can better identify with each other’s problems at work. When my mother was a housewife, she could not fully comprehend the kind of pressures and frustration my father had to face at work. Very often, they would quarrel when my father had to go overtime or entertain clients. However, the situation improved when my mother went out to work. My father began to confide more freely in my mother. Since then, they do not quarrel as frequently and there is harmony at home.

The children of two working parents tend to develop independence at a young age. As my parents are both working, I have to do everything myself. I have to see to my own meals, wash my own clothes and do my schoolwork without having them breathe down my neck. In the process, I learn time management and enjoy my freedom. This works well only in cases where the children are sensible enough to tell right from wrong.

In some cases, the opposite often happens. The children may not do their homework without having their mother to guide them. They may waste their time talking over the phone, watching television or playing in all the time. In extreme cases, they would spend their spare time shopping, going to the cinema or hanging around the public places. Some get involved with bad company and pick up habits such as smoking and gambling. I believe that parents should exercise their judgment, as they know children best. If their children are those who lack discipline, then it is best for mother to stay home and be responsible for the upbringing of the children, at least until the latter are better able to take care of themselves.

Some working parents leave their children to the care of the maids. However, one cannot expect the maids to impart family values or instill discipline in such children. It has to be responsibility of the parents. With two working parents he time spend with their children is definitely compromised. They only have time attend to their children at night or during the weekends. By then, they are sometimes so exhausted that they need time-out themselves. In some cases, parents may even need to work overtime and sacrifice whatever little tile they have with their children. The children may feel neglected and lost and this may have negative impact or influence on them. In such instances, family ties will be weakened. Family problems arise.

Producing or releasing a new album of the “right kind of music” is extremely important to rake in profits. To determine what this is requires recording companies to be sensitive to current music trends and to be quick to follow changes music taste.

Some companies prefer to record songs of an established artiste to guarantee sales, while others may be willing to take risks with new talents. Whichever the case, these companies depend on advertising to inform the public of what is in score. In fact, one of the most crucial avenues for the promotion of record or song is over the radio. Record companies often lobby music programmers, station master and DJs to play their music. Sometimes, recording companies pay for air-time to ensure their records are played. Their maxim is ‘Repetition helps sell music’.

Nowadays, the music industry in Malaysia growing rapidly. However, those involved in the industry feel they need to create a more professional, responsible, and credible image of the industry. Parents rarely encourage their children to work in the music line even though it can be one of the most lucrative in the world. At the censorship board, growth and creativity can sometimes be limited due to the need to remove material deemed sensitive and unsuitable for audiences.

The single biggest threat to the music industry is piracy. Any recording company with a well-known singer will undoubtedly fall prey to piracy. The consumers, too willingly play into the hands of these pirates when they turn towards the cheaper alternative to fulfill their entertainment needs. Pirates not only sell duplicated music but sometimes pass off counterfeit CDs as original and even sell downloaded soundtracks from the Internet.

It is estimated that n 1997, RM 75 million was lost in these pirated forms. Not only was this substantial loss to companies who had invested as much as RM125000-RM40000 for each recording but also represented a huge loss of tax revenue for the government.

HOW TO HAVE A GOOD FAMILY RELATION ENGLISH ESSAY EXAMPLE

Suitable Title:
FAMILY
HOW TO CREATE A HAPPY FAMILY
HO TO CREATE HEALTHY FAMILY

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

*note: suitable for single word essay like "family,"a good relation come from comprehension" etc.

Happy healthy families are important to the well-being of a progressive nation because such families nurture their children towards becoming healthy well adjusted adults. Many families appear to be happy but they are in fact dysfunction as basic psychological needs are not met. Parents do not respect each other nor their children. In the shadow of such negative parenting, children grow up hurting, ashamed, emotionally abused and lacking self worth.

What makes a happy family? Topping the list is communication. Families must connect and talk to each other. Children must be allowed to express their ideas and feelings. In response, parent must acknowledge and show their appreciation for the effort made. At the same time, communication between spouses must be open and honest, tempered with patience and understanding. The family should learn to laugh with each other and not at each other.

Healthy families respect each other. They give respect and receive respect in return. Respecting another member’s point of view, even though it is different from one’s own, is important. Members of family do not put down one another in front of friends and strangers. Each is a unique individual with his own desires and wants. Respecting these desires and wants requires accommodation, and adoption of give-and-take attitude.

Making time for each other is another priority. Parents must make time for their children and each other. Work and other activities must not be allowed to encroach into family time. Family time is very precious. Having dinner together daily or setting aside Saturday or Sundays are pockets of time that can ensure family togetherness.

Healthy families are not caught up in an overly competitive spirit of raising children to be the brightest, the prettiest, the biggest, and the most popular while neglecting other aspects such as emotional well-being. Healthy families raise their children to be concerned about others, particularly the less fortunate. Giving freely of their time and themselves are some expression of this concern.

Cultivating a strong sense of responsibility is another characteristic of happy healthy families. A sense of personal responsibility and obligation towards others is stressed. Attending to a simple chore for a sibling or undertaking a task for a friend must ne carried out with equal responsibility.

And finally, healthy families build strong moral and spiritual foundation. Parents must be diligently play their role in overseeing a child’s continued contact with religion. Encouraging children to join civic organization such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, the Red Crescent movement, etc, will help to instill children moral qualities of kindness, responsibility, courtesy, cooperation, respect for the environment and helping the less fortunate.

HOW ROAD ACCIDENT CAN BE PREVENTED ENGLISH ESSAY EXAMPLE

Suitable title:
State why road accident happen and the solution
Solution of road accident
The road accident happen due to human factor, do you agree?

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

Malaysia is a small country, yet it calks up an alarmingly high number of road accidents every year. There are many reasons for this but they may be narrowed down to two main ones.

Firstly, being an increasingly prosperous nation, its citizens can afford to buy vehicles such as motorcars, motorcycles and vans. With so many millions of vehicle using the same limited mileage roads, it is no wonder that motor accidents will occur.

The second reason for road accidents is the attitude of Malaysian drivers. It is well-known that although Malaysians are normally kind and generous, they transform into different beings once behind the wheel. Many of them break traffic rules, run red lights, speed, overtake, queue jump and bully whenever there is a chance to do so. Malaysian motorists do not seem to mind being paralyzed, maimed or killed. “You only live once” seems to be their motto. Many accidents are also caused by bald tyres and faulty brakes and lights.

Having analyzed the main causes of road accidents, the next step is to propose solutions to prevent there mishaps. First, the number of vehicles on the road should be controlled. The fewer cars there are on road, the lesser the chances of vehicles knocking into each other. This has proven successful in Singapore where the number of vehicles enter the city are limited because motorists have to pa hefty sum every them. Furthermore, the island nation has one of the best public transportation systems in the region, so its citizens don’t actually need to own car. If Malaysians adopted to the same policies and improved on its public transportation systems, there would be fewer accidents on the road.

Another solution would be educating Malaysian motorists to better drivers. Basic common courtesy should also be inculcated in them. There lesson can be presented I campaign via the mass media.

There should also be more traffic policemen on surveillance duties so that motorists are kept on their toes. Deterrent punishment should also be meted out to traffic offenders. Finally, the government should spare no expense in improving the road conditions of the country.

They came from mostly simple walks of life: a construction worker from Taiwan, a taxi driver form San Francisco, a medical student from Japan, a farmer from Indonesia. All walked in out of the world of darkness and left in the fullness of light – blind or partially blind patients who received the gift of sight through transplant from eyes donated by Sri Lankans.

Some of the donors were famous – one a former prime mister, another a former governor general. They were simply among more than 17000 Sri Lankans form al walks of life and for varying ages who had given their eyes so that others, literally, could see through them.

The Sri Lankan Eye Donation Society, through the country’s international eye bank, has been making gifts of eyes to the world’s blind for more than two decades. It is, in fact, the first and still the largest eye bank in the world. The story very much revolves around Dr Hudson Silva, the bank founder. With single-minded devotion, this serene, soft spoken man of vision has served the cause of the blind for 25 years. For 21 of those years he has been aided by his wife, Irangani.

Operating from a room in his small flat in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital, Silva increased his ‘export’ eyes from a mere six in 1964 to more than 2000 in 1985. In addition, he had performed hundreds of corneal transplant locally. There has been a steadily increasingly flow of gift-eyes form island-republic’s 16 million people. In fact, more than half a million Sri Lankans have now pledged their eyes on their death for distribution at home or abroad.

Silva was in the operating room of Colombo General Hospital where two patients were prepared simultaneously for surgery when the idea of an eye-donation programme occurred to him. One patient had cancer behind the eye, requiring its removal. The other blinded by a disease cornea, was waiting to receive the still-healthy cornea form the cancer patient. If, thought, Silva, enough people volunteered to donate their eyes when they died, the need of corneally blind Sri Lanka could be adequately met. Even at the time about 20 deaths occurred every day in Colombo because of eye diseases.

The year was1948 but within a month more than 500 people had responded to Silva’s call, among them his own mother and the governor-general. Two years later his mother died and he himself removed her eyes to give sight to a village farmer. The story touched the nation. A week later, 18000 eyes had been donated to the Ceylon Eye Donation Society, which Silva had founded his graduation. The time signaled another newspaper article in which Silva predicted that “one day Ceylon will have a rich harvest of eyes to donate to anyone in Ceylon or abroad.” His colleagues were skeptical. At a time when internal and international telecommunications were at a comparatively primitive state, particularly in Sri Lanka, the possibility of sending ‘live’ cornea to distant places seemed remote. But Silva had total faith in his vision.

He began writing letters to the hospitals in the major capitals of the world. He told then that he could supply eyes for cornea grafting, on request. In 1964, Silva sent six eyes by plane to Singapore in an ice-filled thermos flask. His project was off the ground. The following year, the Ceylon International Eye Bank was officially opened by the then Prime Minister, Dudley Senanayake, who pledges to donate his own eye on his death. He died in his sleep eight years later than Silva, who removed eyes, sent then to San Francisco where a taxi driver received a cornea transplant. So, everywhere in the busy street of San Francisco there was a cabbie who saw, literally, through the eyes of Sri Lanka’s best loved prime minister.

why crime in Malaysia keep rising

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

*note: due to the political reason, the essay written better not to backwards government, bias against foreigners is a better solution to score marks.

Crime rates in Malaysia have skyrocketed due to the presence of foreigners. They are involved serious crimes such as causing death, manslaughter, bodily injuries and using firearms and other weapons. The police cannot do much as there is no proper identification of illegal immigrants who come into the country on the pretext of looking for jobs.

Wayside robberies, extortions, gang-rapes, drug smuggling and human trafficking are common due to the presence of foreigners. Counterfeit currency has affected the image of Malaysia. Illegals form the African sub-continent are responsible for forgery and counterfeiting.

Immigrants from neighboring countries who enter Malaysia illegal are involved in vehicle thefts, violent bank robberies and burglaries. These criminals do not fear the police because they are heavily armed and some of them have served the armed forces in their respective countries.

Vice activities are thriving due to the presence of “China dolls” who enter using tourists visas and play their flesh trade. These sex workers are carriers of sexually transmitted diseases and put the lives and healthy of Malaysians in danger. Illegal gambling and prostitution dens are mushrooming everywhere due to the foreigners.

Many foreigners have the expertise of forging Malaysian passports and identify cards. Numerous cases of forgery have affected the local people where there have been identification thefts which resulting in frauds and economic loss. The innocent Malaysians become easy victims of these crooked minded foreigner who will stop to all levels to get their ways.

Cases of kidnapping and abduction have risen as foreign students victimize local students. This is serious threat to the safety of all Malaysians. Middle eastern men have sweet talked Malaysian women into drug mules with promises of love, luxury and wealth. These gullible women are behind bars locally and in foreign countries. More women will become easy victims if we do not nip the problem in the bud.

Foreign confidence trickster have lured local women in to the flesh trade too. The increase in crimes involving arson, vengeance and impersonation is also due to the presence of foreigners. Illegal Myanmaris have stayed protests and burnt down detention camp in their fight to stay in Malaysia permanently. Most of them carry forged United Nations refugee cards and are involving in drug dealing as well as robberies.

South Americans have been involved in burglaries in condominiums and luxury apartments. They are known to be “cat burglars” who scale high-rise buildings to carry thefts.

THE EFFECT OF GREENHOUSE EFFECT ENGLISH ESSAY EXAMPLE

Suitable Title :
State how global warming affect us
State the cause of global warming
The effect of global warming
State the cause of greenhouse effect
State how greenhouse affect us

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

Our current environmental threats have been triggered by two human factory; population growth and technological growth. Some of the environmental problems of the past have been local or regional but now we are facing global problem.

The biggest danger to this is our-indifference and ignorance. The rising level of carbon dioxide will inevitably raise global temperature and incur the risk of catastrophic climate changes. Our procrastination in dealing with this problem of the greenhouse effect is unjustified.

Apart from the catastrophic potential of greenhouse effect, our air is being degraded in other pernicious ways. Chemical are devouring our ozone layer and we can expect the ozone hole above the Antarctic to grow, causing increase exposure to ultra-violet ray. Among there, this will increase the risk of skin cancer and in the eventual failure of certain tolerant crops, for example maize, paddy, wheat and hop.
Secondly, the atmosphere has become so polluted that is no longer function as a self, cleaning agent. Deadly methane gases are no longer being properly broken down and the air we breath has become toxic cocktail.

Global warming with the attendant rise is sea level as ice packs and glaciers melt will also have major impact on our freshwater supplies. This factor combined with pollution may drastically diminish the avaibility of drinking and irrigation water in the not too distant future, perhaps bringing about the death of millions. Since one-third of humanity currently live within sixty kilometers of a coastline, rising sea elevation may create significantly socio-economic problems.

Another threat to our water supply is posed by radical changes to the land especially deforestation. When forest are destroyed and the natural cycle of transpiration, evaporation and condensation are disrupted, rain may be eventually reduced to trickle.

Widespread chemical contamination of streams and rivers is an additional threat. Chemical pollution continue to grow.

Deforestation presents a massive threat to land and air. Since forest absorb carbon dioxide, destroying them leaves more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and once again boosting global warming. The only type of we are creating is desert.

Deforestation also destroys the earth reserve of wild plant species. Opium, quinine, penicillin and most of our wonder drugs throughout the ages have been discovered and developed from plants. Now, as our jungle and forest roll back into oblivion, a whole trove of unrevealed curative powers will be lost forever.

BIODIVERSITY ENGLISH ESSAY EXAMPLE

Biodiversity

The Importance of biodiversity

Quote for SUCCESS >>> LUCK IS FOR THOSE WHO KEEP TRYING !!!!

Biodiversity or biological diversity refers to the complex interactions between the vast varieties of living things on Earth. In other words, it is the interaction between the genetic, species and ecosystem varieties.

Genetic variety is the variety encoded within the genes of any one species, be it man or animal. Each species has a unique genetic coding and this is what makes one species different from another. Moreover, it is this encoding that provides each species with advantages in certain aspects. For example, the difference between the breeds of dogs due to the genetic variation within each breed and this gives each certain advantage that enables it to perform specific tasks better. A collie is used to control sheep while a hound is used for hunting.

Within the human population, the genetic variety enables us to carry out certain tasks, be much stronger or achieve much more collectively. A person endowed with height enables him or her to excel in games like basketball and netball. On the other hand, a person of slight build would make a good gymnast or a jockey. When it comes to survival, there are those who live in the tropics where certain diseases are endemic and yet they are able to survive without succumbing to them. And then there are people who can live at high altitudes and so have been able to colonize remote mountainous areas.
As for species diversity, it refers to the different types of animals plants and micro-organism that are on Earth. There are approximately 1.75 million known species in the world, while there are millions of others that are yet to be discovered. This is certainly a lot of diversity.

Human beings, animals, plants and micro-organisms do not survive in isolation but in ecosystems where there are complex interactions, interdependence and inter-relations between them. Therefore, when one single species is taken out of the ecosystem, it can start off a chain reaction that may damage the ecosystem and lead to further loss of species.

We all love durian and go all out to indulge ourselves each time durian appears in the basket loads at the local night market. Yet, how many of us realize if it were not for particular species of bat, we would never have durians? This species of bat feeds on the nectar of the flowers of the durian tree and therefore it is an important pollinator. Since durian tree flowers seasonally, the bat seeks food elsewhere when tree is not flowering. It usually seeks out the flowers of Sonneratia, a mangrove tree which is considered economically unimportant. At one point in the time, the bat was hunted as pests or for food, causing the numbers dwindle. Little did we know then that this would adversely affect the durian harvest. Now the bat is threaten by the widespread clearing of mangrove swamp where the Sonneratia grow.

Therefore, the world’s vast biological diversity which comprises every life form of life, from the smallest micro-organism to the largest animal and the ecosystems in which they live must be preserved. Each species has its own intrinsic value. Sometimes a lowly bacterium may be crucial in maintaining the nutrient cycle of the whole forest. At one time, we did not know that the blood-sucking leech secretes an anti-coagulant substance. As a result of studying leech, we have discovered anti-coagulant drugs that are used I the treatment of heart diseases. Often, it is our limited knowledge that causes us to dismiss species of animal or plants as irrelevant or unimportant. For years, the Pacific yew tree was cut down in millions and left to rot just to get access to valuable timber trees. Then researches discovered that the drug Taxol, which is derived from the bark of this tree was highly effective cancer drug! Well, this discovery was made in the nick of time before all the Pacific yes trees were cut down.
