ACTUARIAL SCIENCE COURSE PERSONAL REVIEW

Quote of SUCCESS
>>> KEY TOWARDS SUCCESS IS JUST EFFORT, CREATIVE,PREPARATION AND                        APPRECIATION OF EVERY POSSIBLE CHANCES !!!!

Are you interested in money and investing it? Do you enjoy mathematics, and find statistics fascinating? If so, working as an actuary could be possible career option. In Malaysia, the demand of actuarist is still on the rising edge. Among mathematics related occupation, actuarist is known as the highest.

Actuaries are experts who design products like these to look after people's financial needs and to protect their financial interests: part of their work is to try to predict what money will do when it is invested.
In general, actuaries’ job opportunities are in the field of financial, insurance, accountancy and banking. Actuaries sometimes give specialized evidence in court (for example in fraud cases) or work with the government to predict how much money will be needed to meet the nation's spending needs on services such as health, education and social care.

To qualify as an actuary, the most important is to obtain specialist qualifications from the Professional bodies. You need to pass different examinations to being qualify. Examinations are categorized to different level; completion on all the papers will bring you really high pay!! However, it is difficult to pass all the papers (In Malaysia there are around 50 qualify actuaries). Anyway, you do not have to pass all the papers to get a job. One of my friends is able to work in an insurance company as financial analyst, with passing about half of the papers.

Actuarial science is mainly maths-based, but the tougher papers at the end are all written papers, which require a good command of English, a good knowledge of the insurance industry and good critical thinking skills. For those who like mathematics can consider it, but if you are more interesting on pure mathematician career you can try mathematics degree. However one thing you have to remember, pure mathematics jobs are rare since the demand is minimal is developing country like Malaysia. Even mathematics courses sometimes are compatible with financial knowledge in order to meet the market demand.
