Economics looks at the factors that ‘influence income, wealth and well-being’. This is accomplished by study of the following elements – maths and statistics, physical sciences, politics, law, geography and the likes. Yet it is a field abound with uncertainty.
As an economist, you could study society in terms of how resources are distributed, analyse economic trends and forecast on various issues like energy costs, inflations, business cycles, employment levels etc. Sounds exciting? Yes…that it is. But easy? That it is not.
Your career options in this field are wide as they are varied.  In today’s changing economy, resources are at a premium. People with economist careers studies how society distributes and utilizes resources. You can enter the field of finance, consultancy, actuary, auditing, trading, banking, mining, manufacturing, insurance, retailing, entertainment, education etc almost all facets of the business world.
Some believe that study in economic is unable to get a job. In fact, job opportunities of economic graduates are generally in sales and marketing, quite similar with business admin graduates. The difference is economics graduates stand better chances to work in financial field, whereas business admin more advantage in industrial sector.

The average salaries are lower than other professional such as medical, engineering and ICT. This is because courses which require “academic talent and a bit nerd characteristic” usually earn higher. Since their fields of study are more specific and difficult. Anyway, if you are the one who loves analysis, this course may be a suitable choice. Those who desire a high pay with this course, talent and hard works are required. In short, good performance is the access to wealth.
