Architecture is the art and science of creating spaces and
structures. Architects are those who are excited about exploring their creative
side. They take in the beauty of the world around and allow it to take form in
the designing and constructing of living spaces, monuments, skyscrapers, parks,

Malaysia is a rich pool of architectural resources to tap from.
Malaysia has around 2,000 architects registered with Lemabaga Arkitek Malaysia
but there are another 2,000 or so who have yet to obtain their license to
practice on their own.
Careers in architecture are expected to increase thanks to rising
affluence and tax deductions on housing loans. As this large generation
transitions into their high earning years, they are investing on properties
with more amenities, gadgets and features. According to iProperty Group,
customers are looking to invest between RM150,000 to RM500,000 for properties.
This demand will mean plenty of work for architects.
Besides, the foreigners’ investment on high-end housing property
causes increases of architectures’ income and demand. This trend is expected
able to maintain for a long term, since high property prices in China and
Singapore encourage them to invest on housing in Malaysia.
Although demand will be stable, clients and developers are said to
be conservative. According to BlueScope Lysaght, a maker of steel building
materials, there is a gap between experience and exposure. Many have
revolutionary ideas when it comes to concepts but are limited by industry
demands which are still rather conservative. Green concepts and sustainable
design is forecast to be the emerging trends.
