Why Private University/College is better options?

Quote for this post:
INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION IS THE BEST INVESTMENT !!!!

Every year the same things happen, there are a lot of students complaining that they failed to get the entry to public university, even though they had good results. Generally this issue only concerns the medical courses. So how about students who get other courses like engineering, law, accountancy and etc? Averagely these students earn a moderate examination result in STPM/MATRIKS, are they really lucky to get the entry to public university?

I am a public university student of electronic engineering courses. Parents say I am lucky because I got the entry. Studying public university is good if we merely consider the cost. However the true is, study private university is a better choice, if we consider in term of investment.

One of my lecturers told me a fact, they had conducted a survey and they found that public university graduates have the lowest employment rate among the total four categories (foreign university, foreign based on local university, private university and public university). The average salary of public university students also lower (comparison is based on several professional courses).

What I notice when studying in local university is the roles of lecturers are really minimal. 70% of my knowledge is from self-learning, 20% is group study, and 10% is lecturers. Over here, buy a good book to study myself is the key point to access knowledge. My university is known as practical-emphasizing school, but so far one core subject is only 2-3 days of practical lab work for the whole semester. The funny thing is, the way they taught me the practical work is, give me a lab sheet and I figure it myself !!! However, lecturer still told us we are really focus on practical, because we have some subjects are totally lab work. She say one of her friend who study the USM electronic even though after graduate she does not even know what is breadboard ( A very basic instrument in electronic field).

Indeed, private university/college is more expensive, but you worth it, at least you able to choose your desire course. Many STPM students study biology stream, hope that they able to get pharmacist, doctors or dentist courses. The point is the places are really too limited; many of my friends end up study agriculture science, geology. Those who are luckier can get chemical engineering or computer science.

USA’s university cost is extremely high, but no matter how expensive it is, statistically still show that it is still a good investment in long term. Same thing apply on the private university, expensive but still better. In Malaysia, lower cost of public university brought you lower quality. Private university had better relation and cooperation with private companies, better learning on English and better lecturers. This will make you a more competitive in future career.

Therefore, if your financial condition allow, try to choose private educational centers. Those who facing financial problems, get scholarship or smarter in choosing the course (engineering course in public university usually is much easier to get). If you get a bad course and no other alternative, the only solution is work harder and become one of the top students, gets more chances to success.

# The statement above does not include medical courses, since medical professional still earn high income regardless private or public. Beside, this doesn't mean public university graduates cant being successful, just the probability to success is really lower according to survey.

*** Our blog will try to post more information about the detail(job opportunity, expected salary, tuition fee, subject) for famous courses, university and the latest scholarships, hope this will help you for your future^^
